What UK sextet recorded for Deram before getting a cameo role in a movie during the 1960s. While you are at it, how many UK sextets can you name from the 1960s?

I was going to say Billy Fury and The Blue Flames but I think that there were only five people in the band. Plus they were signed to Decca as far as I know. So this one has stumped me.

I was going to say Procol Harum, but I'm not sure which of the thirty or forty members and ex-members ever stuck around long enough to make a sextet.

But if you count all members and former members of PH, you'll have about eight sextets at least, although I couldn't begin to name them...

OK Peter. Was it The Nashville Teens? They were a sextet that featured two singers. Tobacco Road was their best remembered hit.

They were also on the Decca label as far as I know but they appeared in the 1964 film "Pop Gear" along with The Beatles and some other artists.

No Brian. This is not the group I had in mind, however, there may be many answers to this one.

This is not the answer to the riddle but it does satisfy this question in part.

"While you are at it, how many UK sextets can you name from the 1960s?"

Unit 4+2

Also Chris Farlowe and The Thunderbirds were a UK sextet.

The Gamblers were a sextet. They were a back-up band to Billy Fury during 1963 and 64. During that period they made an appearance in a film, "I've Gotta Horse".

They were signed to Decca though as far as I know.

The Applejacks (another sextet) were on the Deram label but as far as I know they did not appear in any movies?

Lots of guesses Peter but no answer so far.

Brian, Applejacks were in the 1964 movie Just For You which was basically a glorified pop video before pop videos were thought of, but they were on the Decca label

Not was I was thinking of Roy but excellent post. The group in question were Welsh brethern to Amen Corner. The movie, not to be misleading was actually released in 1970. Following singles with Deram the group would also record two LPs for Mercury.

Colosseum was a sextet, and started off in the 60's i think (though very late sixties). But doubt we've ever seen them in the movies..
