Favourite Searchers' 12-String Songs

There are a lot of great Searchers' tunes that use a 12-string, but my current favourite is "(I'll Be)Missing You." The 12-string fills by Mike on this song are excellent and reminiscent of George Harrison's work on A Hard Day's Night LP. For me, this song is especially nice as it is a Curtis/McNally/Pender/Allen composition. It was the flip side of the UK single "When You Walk In The Room." On the basis of comments made by Mike Pender on other occasions, this 12 String would seem to be his Rose Morris Model 1993.

Pete,
While I have an abiding affection for "When You Walk In The Room", as a 12 string concoction, my vote goes to "Hearts In Her Eyes". It was a great tune, and along with "Silver" showed (in my opinion), the completed evolution of the Searchers' sound.

"When You Walk In The Room" is my all-time favorite song. Second place goes to "Each Time". In third place is "Silver". (The rest of my Top Ten to follow!)

Tim: I agree that "Silver" is a great tune with some nice 12 String work on it. You have to love that Rickenbacker.

Well, though I haven't heard it all, my current favorite twelve-stringer is "When You Walk In The Room"--that lead guitar sound is just wild. Coupled with that riff....ooooh. The lead guitar on Jackie DeShannon's version is also very nice, but it's quite a different sound. I have a rather weak version of that song by Del Shannon, which was supposedly based on The Searchers' version, but instead of a twelve-stringer it sounds like a rather weak six stringer. No competition.

S.J: I agree that the Rickenbacker 12 string in "When You Walk In The Room" is outstanding. Not only did it have a beautiful sound but it was a beautiful Fireglo Rose Morris Model 1993. I just couldn't resist posting it. It is such a shame that this instrument was stolen.

I went back and listened to Del Shannon's version of "When You Walk In The Room" again--it wasn't a six string guitar. It was indeed a twelve-stringer, but it had that kind of sound where the notes melt into each other....not bad, but nothing like the sharp, crisp sound of Mike Pender's Rickenbacker. Peter--thank you for the picture of the artist and his guitar. It is truly a shame that the guitar was stolen.

Hi there! My first posting. I really liked Lowell George of "Little Feat" for his guitar work and
songwriting. I heard that he would often break into the lead riff from "Every Time That You Walk in the Room". I can't verify this and wonder if anyone who reads this can. I would certainly appreciate it.
