Any thoughts on this one guys?

original 1964 Fireglow Rickenbacker 4001S/RM1999, same year/model as McCartney, not reissue, unbelievably rare, only 17 known, serious enquiries only

Price:  £6,500.00

It you want it for a serious player then you must check out the neck. There are just too many basses that have not survived from this period because of neck issues and IMHO I would not buy one unless I was sure of the neck.

Headstock usually.
Graham, the price seems ok if real. I only wonder how original it really is. There's lots of converted 4000's & fakers out there. What's the s/n? etc etc

Yeah, thats thew same one and No, its not worth what hes asking the neck has been repaired and no horsey....

That REAL 60's headstock shape (not v63 et al) is to die for, ain't it?

Thats a 64 headstock.The v63 is like the 65 through 68 headstock.

If you notice on the c64 they tried to correct this by widening the wings.
