Hey Ken,
Interesting.
Comment: What does "the peghead has been modified with small holes on the backside to aid in re-stringing" mean??

My guess is that he's drilled holes through the back of the 12str headstock, where the sideways tuners are...

I concur with Kenny's interpretation but would add that the holes are probably large enough to allow the ferrule at the end of the string to pass through. Strangely, I have had no trouble getting strings onto the sideways tuners, although it does take some time and attention.
Although I am no luthier, I would say that this is a pretty lame modification to what would be a very valuable guitar. Don't get me wrong, I believe that the owner of a guitar has every right to do whatever he/she wants to do with it, so long as one is willing to accept the consequences when it's time to sell it (and be above-board with the changes; I was at a guitar show here in Orange County CA last weekend, and I saw for sale a 1967 Gibson ES335 that had (1) replaced tuners, (2) replaced bridge, (3) incorrect era Bigsby added, and these mods were not noted on the $2500 price tag. I spotted these immediately because my second-owner 1967 ES335TDC, bought by me in 1969 with paper route money, is original except for some replaced bridge saddles - the originals are in the case).
I would be interested in hearing Mark's opinion about such modifications.

I would be interested in OWNING this guitar, if he wasn't asking close to what an un-modified version goes for. I've been wanting a 362/12 forEVER...

Roger McGuinn had a Valdez acoustic 12 string ... he is the guy that modified this guitar .
The holes to aid stringing may be cutting thru th eslots ... I know that he did this to several 12 strings and after seeing his mod . felt that it was a sound idea (I had thought about it but worried it would cause troubles ... it does not seem to have any adverse effect at all structurally )
The Bigsby I personaly could live with out , the toaster ... good idea . The weight of the Schallers and the Grovers ... this guitar would most likely be headstock heavy . The inlay work sounds interesting and perhaps a variation on the crushed inlays .. but photos are needed .
One last thing ... I'll bet my name is inside this guitar ... my hands touched everyone of these made in the 1972 to 1976 time frame .
