4004LK at Ed Roman's

I found that Ed Roman has another 4004LK listed on his site so I thought I'd give 'em a call to see for how much. IIRC the last ones he had were rumored to have sold for $7-8K. I figured at that price I might snatch it up. I should have known better......after talking to the salesman (very friendly/helpful) he talked to the "big guy" who said that they recently got two in and the first one sold for $15K and they were going to hold on to the second one (their last) for at least that much with $17K being the magic number.

I'm not sure if it is all true but it is what I was told......that's just nuts!!!!

So who here is going to pony up ?!?! Image

When I called a few months ago, he said 10K.

I think that was the last one they had.....they said that they just got two in so maybe since they got $10K last time they figured they'd raise it a mere 50%.

Mr.Hall should put out a second run of these just to drop the price and **** Ed off!

He'd also **** off those who paid more than necessary to obtain one.
What was the retail price of these basses anyway?

I think retail was $2799. I paid $1799 which is/was the "standard" street price from a decent Ric dealer. I'm torn between wishing that they'd make more so I could get another or wishing they'd not even finish the run so prices would get even sillier. I can't imagine Ric would ever undertake something like the LK again considering the wait times and production issues. They should be very proud of the accomplishment but they'll probably be glad when they are all produced and it is over.

What is more than necessary? If someone is willing to pay it than so be it. I'd jump at getting a second one for $7500-ish and am kind of kicking myself for not getting that German one on Ebay about a month ago for the $8500-ish BIN. If another one popped up for less after I paid a premium that's the way things go. I think at this point alot of people would pay some crazy money just to get one.....only 60 units being made means that there won't be many changing hands.

5 times the retail price is more than necessary to me, Brian :s
I have no problem with anyone who wants to pay more for something they desire, but 17K is A LOT of money to me. I guess for that price you can ask Lemmy himself to build you one.
I'm gonna order me a 100th year Frying Pan already I think, maybe all 38 of them :D
I'll sell one to pay for the other 37.

I must have a Lemmy.
I wonder if Ed will go for a partial trade for a shiny 4002? Image

Someone put the "DO IT!" sign up. Except, put the word DON'T right in front of it.

I'm not debating what is "reasonable".....just if someone really wants an LK then it appears that it may be "necessary" for them to shell out $15K+. Image

$17K is plenty of money to me as well.....as is the $1799 that I paid. But I do want another another so if I can get one for what I feel at the time is reasonable to me considering the current market then I will make the appropriate adjustments to my lifestyle to allow the purchase. Luckily for me I can pick up side jobs that pay pretty good to supplement my income so most luxury purchases usually entail me working extra hours to pay for my toys.

Just kidding.
Ed would never give a fare price for it anyway.
Good luck Brian.

Wow, wait a minute.
Brian, do you mean a possible trading transaction for your Lemmy?
