Unexpected Compliments…

Every Saturday at 6 PM (CT), I play in my church's Saturdy Service, one with a real band leading the song service, a privelege to play with. Most weeks, I take my 4003S, plugged into a SansAmp BassDriver DI, to the board, with monitor signsl courtesy of a Rolls headphone amp and Etymotic ER-4S's in my ears.

Last Saturday, I lost my mind, got bored, whatever you call it; I took my Warwick instead. Instead of solid and powerful and "honking", I got thin and distorted in my ears. The church pays this audio consultant/ engineer to run sound for our services (when wecan get him), and Terry even commented, "Garry, for some reason, your bass sounds much thinner than usual- I'll keep working on it here". We got thru the Service and "Afterglow", songs played after dismissal where we loosen up a bit.

As I was putting things up, our pianist/ band leader AND that sound man both said they felt my Rickenbacker sat in the mix much better, and was more hearble and "feelable". Neither of these guys sre rockers by any stretch. These guys think, "Atmosphere of Worship", not "rock out, dude!", and they wanted me to play my Rick in service regularly.

THAT's what I call Affirmation!
