670/12?

I'm envisioning a third pickup routed/installed in the center position on a 660/12. Is there anyone on the list who could do this, or who can recommend a luthier who could do a job like this?

Sure, Jim. I could. I was considering the same on my own 660-12. Write me offlist.

I've always thought a third pickup makes more sense on the 600 series than on the 24-fret 300 series, both visually and sonically. I'd be interested in seeing how the project turns out!

I was thinking about doing this to mine. I have bought the third pick up in anticipation, but would love to see what it looks like before I get the carving knife out. Please post a picture when it is done.

I would think that such an arrangement with a 660/12 would be best appreciated with a wiring arrangement that allowed for volume control over the middle pickup as well. Had you thought about what type of wiring you would use Paul?

Yes, Peter.

(a) Rewire the guitar to provide a master tone control and a separate volume control for each pickup

(b) Have a three-way switch (bridge, neck, or both), a volume control for whichever pickup(s) the switch selects, and a volume control for the middle pickup.

I've got these prototyped already and I use the second scheme on my 325.

There are other possibilities, too.
