I own a RIC 350v63. It currently has the factory strings on it. They sound great to me. However, what will the Pyramid Flatwounds sound like?
I would like to hear from users of this guitar that have tried both. Thank you, Steve

Anthony-- My experience is that Pyramid Golds are very high quality flatwounds and you probably can't go wrong with those. Now, in making the following humble recommendation, please keep in mind that I have a 360/12V64, not a 350V63. Last year I was persuaded to try a custom set of Thomastik-Infeld Powerbrite roundwounds right after having had a set of the Pyramid Golds. I was skeptical that the Powerbrites would be to my liking, but I trusted my source and was convinced to take a chance. The short of it is that I'm glad I listened. The Pyramids were fine, but the Powerbrites JANGLE. If this is what you're after, then give them a try. You can find them at juststrings.com

Let us know the verdict if you decide to give 'em a test run.

Jeffery, thanks for your reply. I went on juststrings.com and then under Thomastik-Infeld. There are no Powerbrite strings listed.
They have Steel/Nickel Rounds, Flatwounds, Roundwounds,Steel/nickelFlats,SteelMagnecore,and that's it. No listing for Powerbrites. Let me know, thanks.

Tubeman: I have a Model 350 and used Pyramid flats for the first few months. I found the strings to be of good quality and they lasted well and sounded fine. I learned, however, that if you plan to do any bending that the Pyramids are tough on the finger tips and fo old folks like me on the connective tissue as well.

I switched to the compressed wound string by RIC for a while and enjoyed these strings until doing more research into strings used by Lennon on his Rickenbackers during the early period. He used flats but also used Gibson Sonomatics which I have been using for the past year. These strings were prevalent Liverpool and used by many artists during the early 1960s. I really enjoy these round wounds as I do a fair bit of bending. A knockout sound with toaster pickups. My 2 cents.

Anthony-- First of all, my apology for having inadvertantly misspelled "Powerbright". These strings are listed as "TOI_PB111" (or 110, or whatver available gauge you prefer) at the juststrings.com website. Their price is $9.28 per set. Just click on the website's internal Thomastik-Infeld link for guitar strings and you shouldn't have any problem finding them. Hope this helps.
