Should we be letting the press know of the Mid Atlantic Fest? How do we make that happen?

Maybe Vintage Guitar magazine.

They have been contacted.

Do we really want the general public coming around? How is our security situation in that event?

i thought the same thing.

I'm interested in meeting Forumites and checking out their gear and a bunch of "strangers" would make the easy atmosphere a little less "easy". I'd be concerned about an advertisement attracting someone who would view the event as an easy opportunity to try and score some free gear from a low security environment. It's bad enough that we have the standard Forum lurkers to worry about.....not a major worry but something to think about.

I tend to be on the pessimistic side as far as human nature goes.....so take my opinion with that in mind.

Due to the travel aspect with my valuable cargo (to me anyway) I will likely choose to travel as the law allows me to . So I may be able to offer assistance on the security front if the need arises.....but only as a concerned/trained citizen since I am out of my state and anything official would be a no-no.

Gentlemen, we must crawl before we walk. This event was/is structured mainly for those who frequent the various boards and enjoy the hobby, so for the first time out I think it best that we keep things to a level that can be easily maintained.

We can always plan for the next one while we're enjoying the first one. Bring your ideas along with your Ricks.

I didn't mean making it available for the general public. More like having press there to cover the event, and report on it afterwords.

Vintage Guitar Magazine isn't going to let their readers know of the event prior to it.

I do agree with the not open to the public thing. If we are there and approached by private people who want to just look around, we will need to politely explain that it's a private event.

If they don't leave, we sic Ken on them.

We have thought about security and there will be some systems in place in an attempt to keep things orderly. It'a a shame that we have to think about things like this but I suppose that's the reality of today's world.

I will say though, at the two ampfest I organized there were no unwelcome surprises.

UPDATE: To be sure that we'll have room for everything, I have secured a second exhibit room at the hotel for the Fest. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Back to regular programming...

Good move John, I had a feeling that it would of been tight..

For those of us who can't be there can one or more of you undertake to post pics and provide a short commentary on the highlights when you get back home? It would be much appreciated.

When we get home....why wait so long?!?! I'm taking my laptop and I'm sure a few others are as well so we should have some almost-live updates as it is going on.

Hopefully there will be internet connections in at least one of the rooms; if not, we'll find somewhere to connect...
