After getting a 05 360/6 in the beginning of this year (which i grown to like a lot) I saw the 660 at a local Guitar Center used for $1099. I was always intrigued by toaster pickups. I talked them down to $999 and I took it home. It is an 04 with a sweet top. I put a set of Pyrmid flats on it and plugged it into my VOX AC30CC2 and DAMN!!...This thing sounds GREAT. The vintage toasters really do sound much nicer than the hi-gains (and look cooler too.) The clarity and tone is much better. I own three newer professional series Gretsches and this solid body Ric has THEIR sound!
Another thing that really blew me away is that I can actually play blues and leads on this guitar which is very difficult on the 360. i guess because of the much wider neck?
Now I want another toaster Ric. I am seriously considering the Liverpool 350 with a full scale. With that be a nice compliment to this guitar? Iam also considering selling the 360.

sorry showin off a little
i just spent a half hour jammin on my 360/6 and i remembered why i like that guitar so much. i take back what i said about the higains. they really do sound good but different than the toasters. chords sound like bells. the toasters (and the 660) have a much nicer bluesy soloing tone especially on the neck pup. the problem is i really dig the liverpool model but i need to start limiting my guitar collection before i really go broke lol

As far as I'm aware, Rob (and I'm no expert), yes.

I think you got a good deal on the 660.

That 660 is really sweet. But for a 12 string, personally I'd wait for another model and a lower price. But that's just me, and because I'm not a fan of the 381 body style at all.
Just saying I'm all for holding out as long as necessary to get any given Ric that you'd *really* want instead of settling for one that's available right now just for the sake of getting a Ric of some kind.
They're all worth waiting for - new or used - so I say go for what you want and jump on it as soon as you can. If you've got any given model or finish in mind, I know you'll be able to find one eventually.

i like the RICKENBACKER 350/12V63 LIVERPOOL in jetglo. i do think the 381 is a little too something lol maybe its the beveled edges or something that bothers me.
