I played through a
Marshall 1974X combo a couple of weeks ago. This is a quality amplifier, hand-wired, and going for only $3000. Cdn. I felt that it was nice but over the top in price. The tonality of the 18 Watt amplifer was superb. I would be interested in your review.

This is a great amp, but overpriced due to the coporate management overhead and high advertising budget by Marshall. I would probably wait until a used one comes up or buy a 65 AMP for $1K less.

Peter, another option is either build your own kit, or buy a kit that someone else has built. The 18 watt forum has a TON of info on building these amps, with pics of other people's projects too. Sometimes people there will sell their builds.

I've played one of the new 18 watt Marshalls too Peter, and they sound GREAT! Here in the US, they are going for around $2300 or so. I plan on building my own once I get a couple other projects out of the way.
