Just ordered Pyramid flats...

Well, I took the plunge and ordered a set. Definitely the most expensive strings I have ever bought.
I love the sound of Fender 9050ml's but they just feel like bridge cables. The Joe Osborn flats have a nice feel, and sound, but don't quite have the punch of the Fenders. That and I broke an A on the Joe Osborn's, so I kinda don't trust them. Silly I know.
Here's hoping the pyramids will be punchy and less stiff!

You get what you pay for. Believe it. The pyramids are real nice.

Pyramids are great strings.. and of course were the standard flats that came on Ricks.
I found the next best string are LaBella Deep Talking Bass. Sound like Pyramids, and are a whole lot cheaper!

Rickenbacker never used Pyramids. The flats that they used to have were made by Maxima.

And Pyramids are made quite differently than Maximas. A little bit of purple silk doesn't have much effect on the sound!

I'm hijacking, but what strings do people use as far as scale length. I have been using long scale but I find that my strings are a little tighter than I would like. Are medium scale strings very common? Do many basses other than rics use medium scale?

Man, I used to love those old Rick flats. Unfortunately, finding them was not always easy back then. My local Rickenbacker dealer did not like to order them. Instead, he preferred to push Rotos and GHS.

Would it be possible for the string comapnt that makes rick strings to make a flatwound string like the old rickenbacker flats?

Oh well, just got an e-mail from juststrings.com. And they are out of stock! So I cancelled my order.
I would like to get a set by Nov. 13, since I have a show then, anyone know where else I can get a set quickly?

Rhoads Music, North Coast Music and Pick of the Ricks all sell Pyramids and are all good people to deal with.

Morrow: I use both. I use Pyramid flats on 4003's and TI's on my 4001's. I tried the Pyramids on my 4001's and they just put too much tension on the neck. The TI's, I believe, have some of the lowest tension out there.....
I like the sound of both. The Pyramids feel heavier and are smoother than the TI's and I believe they cost more too....but BOTH are very very good strings.....

I have TI's on my 4001(That's what the previous owner was using) and I love them. I have pyramids on many of my other basses and really like those as well. Both very smooth with great tone!

I love the TI's that I have on my 4001 and use them on a number of other basses as well. I have been curious about the Pyramids but I have never seen them or known someone that has them on a bass that I have played.
I will have to try them out the next time that I want a flatwound string.
