Well, this is just wonderful. A movie all about an insignificant little man that murdered one of the most
significant musicians of the 20th century. Think I'll pass
on buying a ticket to this tripe when it's released.

Well it certainly was an historical event. Like when JFK was assassinated. Even to this day, it hard to fathom the events of that day. I wonder how the inmate population treats that freak. I betcha he's learned the hard way that above all things in prison, Do not drop the soap. his daily payback

I would never have thought sweet little Lindsay Lohan would turn out to be a bone-picker. Bad career advice...

I predict people will stay away in droves.

Someone needs to start a petition against this film... Even if it doesn't deter them from making it, at least it would be a statemetn of the masses.

Peace Arch Entertainment and their President John Flock in particular should be ashamed of themselves.

There is no need to shine a spotlight on that murderer. I pray and trust that there will be very little appetite to view the film. I hope it loses them millions of dollars.

It makes me ashamed that they are a Canadian company.

This is actually a step UP for Lohan, after "Herbie, Fully Loaded." Puh-leeze.
Side note, I went to the movies tonight, and could NOT find a movie I wanted to see. Ended up with Zorro. Good entertainment.
I just wish he could get the same treatment Gacy got in jail.
You would think YOKO would not want this movie made, dontcha think?

I don't think she's to thrilled about it. I don't care what the hell made him tick. It's a way to capitalize on the 25th anniversary and make money sponging off the Lennon story.

"Peace...": one of our favorite words...
"..Arch...": nothing really scary in that one...
"...Entertainment": oops, there's the culprit.

A few years back there was a rumour of Chapman writing a book and Yoko freaked out (and rightly so) at the thought of that sh*thead profiting off of what he did.

I imagine Yoko will freak out at this movie also. However, given her recent exploits of making a quick buck by hawking cheap "Lennon style" trinkets, perhaps she'd happily go along with it if they cut her in for 10% of the gross.

The way to protest, obviously, is to ignore the film. Don't hip others to it by word of mouth, and when it does come out, stay home. Of course some will be unable to resist. Personally, I don't care what makes Chapman tick. I don't want him dead, but I also don't care if I ever hear of him again.

Fair enough, but the underbelly of society has always fascinated us...and will continue to, very often for cheap, titillating reasons, but sometimes for legitimate reasons.

Why did a certain event happen? Art is many things to many people, but one purpose it can serve is to imagine/speculate/extrapolate what was going on in the head of an individual.

Why did Hitler turn his back on his architectural career? What did Christ feel during his last days on Earth? What was Lou Gehrig thinking as he stepped up to the plate?

It is never fact (not that any documentaries are...that is another argument), but it can make one think, reconsider their own viewpoints...maybe see things from another vantage point.

A big stink was made up here in Canada about the Karla Homolka film...let's ban it, let's start a campaign against it...how can someone make a movie about such pain?

How indeed. World War One, World War Two, The Holocaust, Hiroshima, Soviet butchery, Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Pol Pot, South Africa, Son Of Sam, The American Civil War, 9-11.

It's what interests us. It always will. Turn away and do not encourage it, as earlier suggested. If it is a provocative/interesting film, then I will not close myself off from it. But if it is a exploitive exercise, then no thanks.

But that is a personal judgement.

Not trying to go off topic but
"Why did Hitler turn his back on his architectural career?"
I thought he was an artist. He went to school for it but quit because he had trouble drawing/painting people. After that he joined the Nazi's.
Sorry... heh.

I'd probably not go see this movie. When I was reading "The Lives of John Lennon" I skipped over the Chapman and Yoko parts becasuse I didn't care... I wanted to read about John.

Also, historical movies with a made up character bother me! They wern't real, so don't put them in the movie. That bothered me with 'JFK'. Three or four people were turned into one for that movie. It probably helped with the running time, but it still bothered me.

Yeah, Hitler was an 'artist' with a day job hanging wallpaper...

Architects don't have to be able to draw people...nowadays they barely have to know how to draw at all...
