Just been watching a 1971 Old Grey Whistle Test performance by Wishbone Ash. (Phoenix rising DVD). It's great to see Martin Turner giving his Jetglo 21 fretter what for. Must viewing for all 4001 addicts!

God I love Wishbone Ash & Martin Turner. The bass solo on Handy is fantastic! I recently learned that he was a Rick guy early on as I had only seen pix of him with T-Birds from the later years. I think there is a picture of him holding that same 21 fretter on the inner sleeve of "Pilgrimage".

Chris, get this DVD the old performances on it are great! Superb version of Vas Dis as well as Jailbait and Where were you tomorrow. I knew them in the early '70s (they toured with us) Martin always played the 4001 until he got a Thunderbird bass.

I will Peter, thanks for the heads up.

Did he record the first record & Argus with a Rick?

I'm not sure what he used in the studio but the first album (Wishbone Ash) was a 4001, I think Pilgrimage was 4001 and T'bird, and Argus was more likely to be T'bird only. But I was never in the studio with them, only on the road.
