Never can say goodbye?

I bought my first Rickenbacker by mail order, a Fireglo 360-12. On opening the box for the first time it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that I was moved, touched, experienced a quasi religious moment, it floated my boat. So much so, that I needed to buy a Jetglo 330-6 three weeks later – same thing happened. My question is, (despite the obvious for-the-need-of-cash answer) if you feel like this, how do you ever manage to say goodbye and sell them on? How do you get past that Charlton (from my cold dead hands) Heston moment?

You can't!

I've thought of selling a couple of mine a few times, but it hasn't happened yet....and somehow more keep finding their way to my door. Rics are like that....they almost seem to love you back! Image

I find that when I sell one, buying two new ones usually helps me get over the loss.

Buy judiciously & you'll never have to sell one.

I don't think I could bring myself to do it! If I did, I'd probably take the 'Kevin' option and get some more....... assuming I had the funds. I'd sell everything else before my Ricks. Image

I hear what you are saying Gary! I love your basses. I am sans Ric bass (sold the Fender JB, Epiphone Rivoli and Hofner 500/1 remain) although a Mapleglo 4003 is really calling me like a siren at the rocks. Don't you just love Dave Pascoe's room - all Rickenbackers and not a stick of furniture!!!!

I've sold many guitars over the years (including some Ricks), but I've owned my 330 since buying it brand new in the summer of 1984. I haven't found another one like it, and probably never will!

I've sold a few Ric basses that I didn't need anymore and I wish I still had them but I have to make choices on where my "toy money" goes so I've had to make a few sacrifices. I have replaced my 4003 basses with 4004's so my liife isn't all bad. Image

My deepest regret is that, many years ago albeit in a moment of temporary insanity, I sold my model 375 FG double bound 6 string.

I still miss that guitar. Someone out there has the best Ric ever made.
