Miguel: Depending on your playing style there is a good chance that the middle pickup will get in the way. The good news is that you will get over it. I used to notice the difference between playing my 3 pickup versus 2 pickup Rickenbacker, but this is no longer the case. Is the 3 pickup look really worth the effort, particularly if it is to have no "sound" purpose?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I do have empty bobbins, but I tend to agree with Peter. Why (?) if not for a sonic reason.
Show him the shirts, Adrian.

Miguel;
So let me get this straight; you want the "look" of 3 PUs, but don't want or need an actual functioning middle PU?Have I got it so far?
If that's the case, do what I did on a project guitar of my own; I got a real Rick PU cover, and the aluminum plate that screws to the bottom of the cover, and then, cut a rectangular piece of black phenolic material to fit Inside the cover, so that from 3 feet away or more, no one really can tell that all you have is an empty non functional shell.If this is what you want to do, trust me, it's Really easy.Ironically[or not?]
the cost of the 2 pieces from Rick have a list price that is about what toasters cost new before Rick discontinued them in '73.Eventually, I'm going to get a whole working toaster PU to put in this project I had, but in the mean time, "I got the look"of 3 toasters.
