Anyone know of an online store that'll let me pay for a Rick by the month? I want my Nana to bring me a Jetglo 4003 from the states when she moves here in January. I'd be paying her for it, and using her credit card to get it. I might settle for Midnight Blue, but I prefer just plain black.

There are a lot of them that take credit cards...and I think POTR just got a Midnight Blue in.

ROFL...Yeah, some cats in nigera have the same question on alt.savetherickenchildren.nedflanders.free
but ya know how hard they are to find and give to.
If I see anything I'll pass it on.

Musician's Friend and Music 123 have installment plans, but you'll need to apply for their in-store card. AMS (American Musical Suppy) has a deal where they charge your credit card in up to five monthly installments. It looks like Sam Ash has both types of plans.

I'm sure Chris Clayton or Mike Parks allow layaway.

Mike does. 10% down will reserve any model he's got on order. That's how I ordered my C64FG through him. Plus, he's a very nice guy to deal with. I bought my Monty Brown 4003 from him, making payments until the bass came in. I've almost got that C64 paid for now. He's also in NC where I live, which makes it even easier for me.

I bought my 620 from Chris Clayton at pickofthericks.com
$200 down and I paid on it as I had the dough.

I might go with AMS. If I can talk my Nana into it, I'll be getting the bass in January when she gets down here. I'll have to wait a couple more days. I asked her and she said ask later. We'll see.
Wish me luck! A 4003 would be great. It'll be nice not having the string tension worry in the back of my head all the time.

A new 4003? I played a few up at a local guitar shop... Didnt like them. Neck was to think. Plus the set up was probly way off. I dont even recall now. I want to visit it the next time I visit the record store (they are right next to each other). I like the 4001's alot better. Just me. And If you set it up right and use the right strings you shouldnt have to worry about the neck tension. I mean Chips had his for what.. 30 something years and the necks perfect... And what about all the cats on here. Doesnt seem like much of a problem to me. But then again... You guys are the experts.

I'm not a flats player.. I play rounds. I always have a little voice in the back of my head saying "Your bass could break because of these strings!" I don't like that.. plus I want a new bass.. and it's gotta be a Rick. I love the sound and shape, but I want to use rounds and not worry. A 4003 is my best bet.

As far as I know Chips has always had rounds on it. Im not sure what kind of strings he use tho. I really like the strings tho. They feel nice and they are lights. I play mainly light strings. I like the feel and sound better.
