I have a friend here in Singapore who wants me to help him re-position the volume and tone knobs on his 360 as per a Gibson Les Paul (don't ask me why, he's just that way inclined.)
Are there any snags I'm likely to come across, please?
The only thing I can think of is that the pick-up wires might not be long enough but never having done this job on a Ric before I just wanted to double check before going into surgery.
Is there a SIMPLE 360 wiring diagram available anywhere please?

Do you have the Rick-O-Sound jack set up or is it the dual mono jack set up .

That is the difficult area . The rest is straight ahead .

You mean you'd rather have the Volume knobs on the top instead of on the bottom?Or you like the "Gibson" way of Wiring the pots, whereby, if you have the switch in the middle, with both PUs on, and then turn down either PU volume, you turn off Both PUs , instead of like Ricks, whose wiring still leaves one of the 2 PUs on, when the other is turned off?

Thank you Mark and Don for answering... my friend says: "There are two holes in the Ricky, I think one is stereo but I never use the Rick-O-Sound just the normal one."
And Don - my understanding is that he just wants volume/tone at the top and volume/tone at the bottom like a Les Paul.
Here's the next dumb question, please... are the pots mounted on the lower pickguard or do they come through holes in the top of the guitar like a 335? I'm kinda hoping there's just a swimming-pool-sized rout underneath the pickgaurd that accepts the four tone/vol and blend pots and wiring. I don't fancy all that fishing line or surgical tubing stuff, it's a real pain.
Please stay in touch, I'd like a hand to hold on this one as it's not my own guitar and there's no repair shop we can trust to touch Rickys here in Singapore.

There is a nice big cavity to work in ..this is NOT an ES-335 at all .

NO fishing to deal with .

However , you will have to deal with the Rick-O-Sound jack set up .

Placing the volumes next to the Switch and the tones near the 5th knob is easy . Just time consuming .

Then comes ... what do you do with the 5th knob .

I would unsolder the ground wire from the 4 pots that need to be moved , then shift them to where you want them , then hook everything back up leaving the 5th knob "STOCK" and the hot wires returning to their original locations . Then the guitar will have LP layout with all the stock Rick functions .

Wiring diagrams for Ric models availble on the Rickenbacker factory site. easy to find. Includes special wiring for the 370 etc. Good luck

I draw them out as a picture of the parts rather than the schematic ... a hassle for me ... makes it easy for you .

Mark - hi - yes, please do send me a drawing. Those schematics I find daunting... I always draw wiring "pictures" for myself before I start a job so yours would be very much appreciated ahead of taking my friend's precious 360 to pieces.
