360/6 from the window at Rudy's. It was Sunday so they weren't opened. I'm sure they had more inside.

This was my first time seeing Rickenbacker's other then my own or in pictures so it was pretty great. I love Fireglo in person. Jetglo was also very nice, but it's just black.

So I played the 360/12. Had to tune it of course. Then I noticed the thing with the tuners, I didn't know the inside ones had the normal strings on the bottom side of the headstock, tho it makes lots of sens. The neck was pretty sticky so I had to do my best to wipe it.
First thing I noticed was the string spacing. It's true that it does take a bit to get used to. It's very tight compared to a 6 string. Unfortunately the guitar wasn't setup to my liking, the action was a bit too high.
Other then little things I found the neck a bit big when compared with my 1979 370 but I would expect a big difference between them. It could still tell it was a Rickenbacker neck and it was nice.
Is it possible the pots turn counter clockwise where as on mine it's clockwise to lets say add volume?
I also never realized from pictures that the hi-gains look different. They also sounded weaker but I can't say honestly because it's almost impossible to compare.

Anyways I thought I'd share this.

Patrick, it's ashame Rudy's was closed, they had some nice Ricks in there last time I went - two 381v69's, a 350v63, a 620, and a 330.

On the other hand, you didn't have to deal with their snooty-ness.

Looks like that might be one of the new-headstock 360/12s
Neat.

John, yeah that's what I thought, I would've so played one of their 381's, I think there was a Blue Boy one. That would of been nice.

Yes it is J.

I also went to Manny's and I didn't see any Rickenbacker's so I asked the guy if they had any, he just told me that he could have one in 8 months or so. I simply told him I had one already and I'm just here to play so I left. Image
Although they had some nice Gretsch's...

Patrick, could you perceive any differences in sustain/tone on that 360/12 compared to the "old style" headstock? I guess you couldn't really A/B it on the spot...

I really like the way the new design looks & it was catalytic in my decision to buy another Rick 12 in the forthcoming year (once I find out what finishes/options/mysterious offerings RIC will make available).

For the record, I went Rudy's looking for a non-Ric (sorry) 5 string bass - The bass guy was very helpful - when I'm ready to pull the trigger on the new bass, I'll probably go to him....

Oh, Rudy's also had a 4001v64 in the bass section. I must have played that thing for an hour. About a week later, I snagged one off eBay. Rudy's didn't sell me the bass, but they sure sold me ON it!

Yeah, we noticed. But nobody mentioned it, so...

Hey Paul, this is totally off topic, but do you happen to have any relatives that live in New Jersey?

J (or is it Oliver?), It would probably best to compare a 12 string model to it and not a 6. But I'd say it was about the same.

Don and Paul, I did notice/mention it! Image

Jerry, not up to about three degrees removed. All of us with this last name come from the same small town in Poland, and we first entered this country in around 1845 and settled in the Philly area. So Joizy is no surprise.

My own grandparents came through Ellis Island in the early 1920s and went right to Chicago. I'm third generation.

Say hi to my cousins and tell them there's a crazy relative in California. They won't be too surprised, I'll wager.
