Stringing a 12er

Hi there guys.
I am wondering if you could refer me to a good stringing guide for my 366/12.

It looks as if the lower 4th string and the upper 3rd string are touching my Rickenbacker emblem... I guess it shouldn't happen...

Thanks.

I don't re-string my 12 stringers, I find it quicker and easier to order a new guitar from the factory! Image

Gil: This is unavoidable with some truss rod covers on 12 strings. You will notice that some of them are shaped to avoid this. Before speaking too soon, might we have a close-up photo of your headstock illustrating the problem.

The strings touch the TRC on both of my 12-strings, but this does not affect the sound of the guitars at all, so I don't think it's a problem....

This is the way they've always been.

While the truss rod cover does not affect the sound, it is a problem should you need to make a truss rod adjustment. It cannot be slid under the strings easily and then back again following the adjustment. This is a small thing but I prefer the shaved TRC.

My truss rods on both of my 12-strings have never needed an adjustment, so I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed! Image

Here is a 8mp image of my headstock:

Usually I string my guitars alot better (at least 2 complete rolls of each string) but this was my first stringing and I actually freaked out after an hour or so, so I went to a friend to help me finish it out...

Gil - A couple strings touch the TRC on mine too, and it's got the shaved vintage shape like Peter was talking about. It really isn't a big deal at all unless you need to get it off to adjust the truss rods.

One way to minimize it is to wind those slot strings towards the outer edges of the headstock.
