Nice work once again Michael. It is interesting to consider how successful "Needles and Pins" would have been had Tony Jackson sung lead. To my way of thinking, the song would have been just as successful given its strong melody and the Searchers' great harmonies. We must also remember that Tony's "Love Potion No. 9" had great appeal and met with much success in the United States. Mike Pender has a great voice, however, Tony Jackson's voice quite unique and had a rough edge that had much appeal in its day.

As with so many songs and groups, there is a window of opportunity that presents itself that does not remain open for very long. Unfortunately for Tony and Searchers' fans, both the window and the door slammed shut more quickly that he imagined I am sure. On the bright side, Frank Allen decided to join. Thanks for taking us back to the early years again Michael!
