Saw this awhile ago on the Japanese Yahoo auction site. I wonder why he did it? Obviously came from the factory with two pickups.

I remember Southpaw having one at the 1990 or 1992 Arlington show (a lefty 4001CS that is). I couldn't afford it then, and no doubt I couldn't afford one now either!!!

Marc Seligman's 4000MS must have been the influence Image

Actually, come to think of it. My 68 started life as a 4000 and someone routed it for a big guild pup. It might be interesting to put a regular 4000 PG on it and put the pup underneath...

At least it is a reversable mod. ...if he saved the toaster and guard.

Peter, I have THAT bass. I saw it at the '92(?)Austin show and bought it from Southpaw for $999.

Ron, it was the Fall Arlington show where I saw it, it must have been the 1992 one. I think Jim had it marked up a lot higher than $999 then, as I was very interested in it, but it was out of my price range. I have regretted not pushing the boat out and buying it many times since. I ended up buying a lefty '68 EB2 which has now found a new owner.

What kind of a tool would waste the time, money, energy and brain power to dream up such a useless mod?

Some of the sh1t Chris did to his RM1999 in the 60s doesn't bear thinking about. Image

Peter, you are correct. I do in fact write left handed. Just didn't have the guts to play that way...

I wonder what that bass would sound like with the pick up under the 4000 pick guard?
