If this is a for real interview. Lennon's comments would not surprize me. They did have a bit of a tough time at the last.

I guess i just never 'got' John's perspective on the 'Yoko vs the Beatles' topic. I think it's all basically been said, but consider this- If the Beatles sessions were John's 'job', imagine a nine-to-fiver bringing his girlfriend to work and telling his coworkers, 'From now on she'll be sitting with me at my desk because we're in love." Sounds pretty ridiculous to me!

This interview is old news in the U.S. I guess it has some value if you've never heard it. Steve -- that's a good point. Being in a band is indeed a job. I'm surprised that someone didn't just deck John -- I've seen fights start in bands over far less. Sexist as it may sound, women and male bands don't mix. And vice versa. I'm sure that if one of the Bangles had dragged a boyfriend/husband to every session, there would've been problems. (Maybe there were, but the Bangles' times have not been chronicled to the extent the Beatles have.) I understand wanting to be close to the one you love, but the John/Yoko Siamese twin thing must've been hard to handle for everyone ... except them. That said, I still don't think Yoko "broke up the Beatles." Unless it was with her "singing." That still breaks me up.

The Beatles sessions weren't John's 'job', they were his 'business'...well, his and a couple other people's, but he was definitely an 'owner', not a nine-to-fiver...

I believe the audio gives a clearer unedited version than what made it to the book "Lennon Remembers".

If you consider heroin addiction to be a sign of an unhealthy mind, it shouldn't be surprising that the same person would have unhealthy relationships and business dealings. We only saw the symptoms at the time. Very sad.

Sorry, Steve...didn't mean to be irksome, buddy. I wasn't really after refuting the point of your post, either...I pretty much agree with you completely, ironically enough.

However...as you point out, a 'nine-to-fiver' couldn't get away with such actions and attitudes, so how is it that John did? He and his bandmates were 'co-owners' by the time Yoko made the scene, not employees...especially considering Apple Corp. and the myriad of parallel projects going on...and the piles of money involved...that's all I'm sayin'.

There's refutin'...and then there's discussin', debatin', disagreein'...it's all okay, bro', and at least part of what's involved with a forum like this. Anyway, whatever I was doing, believe me I wasn't going to much trouble...

As Paul W. points out, I am a Wiseass...but hopefully one who occasionally stumbles across a valid point. (And if you think you're irked, check out what I seem to do to poor Brammy on a regular basis!) If we all agreed about everything, there'd be nothing to talk about but potentiometer wiring...

Your last post is precisely why so many of us on this forum enjoy having discourse with you. I really enjoy reading what you have to say, even if I find myself not in agreement with your viewpoint I do to try to understand your position on a subject.

The bottom line is that your posts are interesting and I have come to believe that they based on experience and more importantly, are from the heart. I don't particularly think that you are a wise ***, I think you are a lot of fun. I say all that, safe in the knowledge that I don't have to be in agreement with you on all subjects and that we can remain on good terms.

I used to be in a band with a drummer who wore his wife's clothes. Does that count as bringing your wife along? BTW -- they fit him better than they did her.
