Marc, I have an old 60's trc in front of me and the black rick is placed further to the right and the last r is maybe 1/8 inch away from the screw hole, That one does not seem centered like most of the ones I've seen over 40 yrs

I had the same question!

Hmm... I don't know what to make of this one, really. Anyone?

It looks like a re-issue, but I've never seen one with the silk screening so off-centered. If it were real I would think that the RIC quality control gurus would have tossed it in the reject bin.
Therefore...I'm gonna say......FAKE!

If it's legit, I think it's off of a V-Series 6-string. You really can't go by the placement, they were all over the place, even on vintage TRCs. It's nice, but I don't think it's from the 60s..

Here is my 1975 4001. As you can see it is quite off center. I think the plexi's are never two exactly the same.

All my 60's ones are different. I picked up another recently and it's way off the third hole.
That one looks more like a fake, but I suspect it could be a reissue version too

I looked at it before and my first thought was that it looked a bit "iffy". Funnily enough my second thought was the same!

Sniff, sniff... I detect the smell of a fake TRC on Ebay... Something about it is just not quite right.

Maybe it's the lighting or angle but the TRC in the auction doesn't look like it's clear plexi with the logo on tyhe back.
It doesn't look like raised lettering either.

I say it is a fake.

It looks to me as if the Ric logo has been put on AFTER the photograph, of a plain white TRC, was taken. This might account for the very off centre type. The type looks too in focus for the rest of the shot...?
Maybe if someone could ask to see a different view we would know.
