Can anyone tell me if my Rick is a 4001s or a 4001v63. It was made in May of 97 but does the serial # (RO 6759), identify the model?
Here's a bad picture of it...

Thanx!
p.s.
That's just red tape on the saddles of the bridge . It’s there to keep my knuckles from getting whacked.

Another great-looking Rick bass indeed, George. Do you have more Rick basses in your collection?

This is weird. I thought I had the only Jetglo v63 and now today I find two more!

Thanx for the kind words Serg,
This is my one and only Rick. I bought it right out of college. It still has the sticker on the pick guard. I wrapped the entire back of the body with black vinyl back when I got it because I was going to use it alot. I took that stuff off the other day and its' like mint.

I have a “made in USA” 1988 B.C. Rich bolt on Mockingbird bass which I also bought originally that I think will someday come back in style.

... I need more Ricks!

Well, allow me to introduce the Ricks currently in my collection: a 1979 Azureglo 4080, a 1970 Fireglo 21-fret 4001, a 1974 Jetglo 4001, a 1976 white (originally Burgundyglo) 4001 and a 1980 Burgundyglo 4001. And the ones no longer in my collection: a 1972 Fireglo 4001, a 1977 Burgundyglo 4001, a 1980 Mapleglo (originally Jetglo) 4001, a 1981 Jetglo 4001, a 1981 Mapleglo (originally Jetglo) 4003, a 1982 Fireglo 4001 and a 1992 lefty Mapleglo 4003. Whew!
I love B.C. Rich basses but have never come across a single one here in Portugal (Europe).

Looks like an "s" with v63 hardware, the headstock is too short. Of course it might be the angle. Is the heel round or square? That's all we need to know.

That is a LONG headstock, Kendall.

I am the owner of a Jetglo 4003S, converted to V63 electrics. My bass's headstock are discernably shorter than what you're looking at.
Trust me.

A 4003S's "horns" also tend to look a little stockier... less delicate than 4001 "horns".

Something that keeps the 4001 the "lust-magnet" it's always been, perhaps?

My heel is square also, just like George's and the auction.

Compare this with the Jetglo bass above:

Is this headstock the same length??

Alvaro,

What you refer to is the visual effect caused by the 4001s binding.

I believe the body blanks are identical, but either Arnquist or Adamek could say with authority.
