Hey Nate,

I gave that one a look myself!

I have two Alembic basses. Greg Lake first turned me on to Alembic WAAAAAAAyyyyyyyy back in 1978.

Granted they are on the lower end of the model scale, an EPIC and an ESSENCE 5 string, but the sounds I get out of them are AMAZING.

I always wondered how the two combined would sound. I like things stock, so I'd never attempt this myself, but it does make you wonder....

Nate - years ago I put Alembic pickups in a 4001 I had at the time. They are much more "hi-fi" sounding that the stock pickups. It's always hard to describe sound in words, but the bass lost that classic Rickenbacker sound (not really surprising!). Are the Alembics good pickups? For sure! They just may not give you the tone you're looking for.

Then I'm not going for it. I like the grindy/growly stock Rick pickup sound.

Not yet Nate,

I'm still in the dark.

It is driving me NUTS! I don't even know the color!

The Mrs. moved the bass to a friends house so I can't even sneak a peak!

I LOVE natural wood so if I were to GUESS, I'd say a Maple, but what version? I just have to wait ANOTHER MONTH!

!@#*$#&@!!

I have a very good friend up in NY who asked me if I wanted to buy this one over the summer..but it didn't work out...I'm still hoping.....

Not a thing bro. Look at it this way. At least your just obsessed with Ric's. With me its Spector, Ric, Fender, Lakland, Musicman, Wal! Figured you'd like the Wal one. But yeah. You got one (that I know of)... I got 6 and Iv only been playing 2 years. Looks like im a little obsessed.
