What kind of picks are you using with your Rics? I've become quite a fan of Pyramid's picks.

I rarely use a pick on my bass, but when i do I use the Dunlop gator grip picks, green 1.5mm. Best pick I've ever used (besides my fingers) and I use just ONE green pick for two years.

I remember those! Always ran ads in the back pages of Guitar Player...

Are they still around? (I don't read GP much anymore...)

Does anybody use or remember the 6mm thick felt picks that some used to use for electric bass back in the Stone Age? Anybody use them now or in the past? Are they still made? My local store doesn't have them.

You mean one of these beauties?

When I bought my first bass in 1974 I told the clerk that I wanted to play with a pick; "Here, everybody uses these" was what I was told. Why I still have this after thirty one years, and don't still have the bass ('73 Fender P Bass) is a mystery.

Currently, it's Herco Heavies for bass, Fender Medium for guitar.

Paul, I use felt picks for bass. They tend to be pretty weak though, so if i'm really digging in, I use really heavy big triangles. Same on guitar.

Paul, the Min'd picks were only sold during the early to mid '80's. I think they went out of business after a few years. I got mine shortly after I got my '76 4000 in '85. Paid around $13 US EACH! I've got one of those felt picks in white, but I never use it.

I use a pick for just a few songs. When I do use one, it's a Dunlop Tortex, the green one .88mm or similar D'Addario tortex pick.

Same as Joey....Dunlop tortex .88. They wear out pretty quickly though. I don't think it's anything to do with the quality, picks just don't last long....couple of weeks at the very most.

Fingers for bass!
