Just for the fun of it, I'm trying to locate the 'nearest relatives' to the four 4001 basses I currently own: JK 340 (Fireglo, 21-fret), NF 3827 (Jetglo), PB 1043 (currently white, originally Burgundyglo), TG 2690 (Burgundyglo). Let me hear from you.

I just missed out on buying JK 333 (if i remember correctly) this summer in the U.K. It was a mapleglo 21 fret 4001 in very good condition.....that one hurt...

Thanks a bunch, guys. Yeah, Robert, my PB 1043 is a 4001. Andrew, so far JK 333 is the closest relative of my 4001 basses. A Mapleglo 21-fret 4001... It must have been a great addition to someone's collection! Keep on searching. Jeff, your HI 1406 is sort of twice removed from my JK 340, but it is the most interesting so far. Keep those serial numbers coming!

'MJ' dates to October 1973.
Well, may be some of the Rick basses no longer in my collection have ended up going back to the States. Their serial numbers are TI 3682 (4001 MG), UF 1980 (4001 JG), UB 465 (4003 MG), QK 4875 (4001 BG), B5 9493 (Lefty 4003 MG). As to the serial number of a 1982 FG 4001 I used to own all I remember is the letters - VI.

I believe those are quite rare, Dane. Although I don't find them as attractive as the 4000 series design, I sure would like to have them in my collection. Thanks for the serial numbers.
