Love That New Ric Site !

Post by incubus2432 »

In my periodic checking of Ric's website I observed that they just sent a JetGlo 4004 Laredo to Pick of the Ricks so I called Chris up this morning to see if it was spoken for and found that it was still available. EXCELLENT !!!! I put my deposit down and just have to wait for him to get it and make sure all is well then forward it to it's new home.......mine. Now I have to start rounding up black hardware.......bwahahahahahhah!

BTW.....he also has a 4004L Monty in route that is still available. It's pretty cool feature of the new Ric site to be able to check on what is going where. With the sharks on this forum you have to be pretty quick to snag something when a pic of it pops up for sale on one of the dealer sites so it is nice to be able to get a slight jump and buy it before the dealer even gets it....especially with POTR's since he doesn't post an "ordered" list to wet our appetites. The 4004L doesn't seem to cause much excitement but it is exactly what I was looking for. Chris gave a great price and it is nice to finally do business with him after talking to him several times.....he seems like a great guy.

Yes, Chris is a great guy. Someday I shall order a new Rick from him. Perhaps a 4004CII/5 in TG? Perhaps.

.....is TG for TedGlo!?!?!?!?

I saw it last night too and was calling every few minutes after the store was supposed to open this morning in case someone else interested saw it.

John....just go to the site, click on the pull down menu under models for what you are interested in, click on your choice and when you look at the description for a particular model on the right there will be an option "click here to see which dealers/distributors have recently been shipped this model" and a window will open up to show you who is getting your next bass in.

I check it every once in a while to see if 4001C64 has been shipped yet. It's good to have that as a reference.

Congrats, Brian. The 4004 is one of the best kept secrets around. I can't wait to get my 4004L BBR.

But I'm gonna hafta.

Nice work, Brian. Are you gonna turn it into a Darth Vader bass?

I'm planning on swapping the chrome hardware for black and I'm debating about getting the neck stained black and clearcoated.....that part depends mostly on turnaround time and finding someone willing to do it. I've located the bridge/tuners/knobs and just have to decide how to do the pickup surrounds....paint, powdercoat or anodized. I had the same intentions with my s8 but it grew on me part may through the project so I left it with chrome and never got around to the neck. I'm a little more interested in seeing this one through to my 4004 Blackstar vision though.....then I won't feel the need to pay through the nose if a real Blackstar ever surfaces for sale.

Is this what you meant by Darth Vader bass ? Image

I always thought a black Laredo would be great with a 50s-style flame job painted on it.

There was a home powder coating kit available through automotive aftermarket (ie: hot rodding) suppliers that gave decent results. You'd have to sand blast the surround, but the powder coating process seemed fairly straight forward, though you need a spare oven to cure it in (you can't use the one you use to cook food...nasty fumes & such).
I used to see the kit advertised in Car Craft & Hot Rod all the time.
Plus five minus five!
