Yesterday about 4:30 pm the HAPPY truck delivered mine and my Mom's new Rics, it's been around 30 degrees here so I let them stay in the case overnight.I have'nt seen my Mom's yet as it's over at her house although later this morning Im gonna go there and open the case and "check it out"!
As far as my new 620 JG is concerned I awoke at 3:00 am this morning and opened her up, everything was fine she was already at room temp, the first thing I did was examine her is a strong light, and to my disappointment the finish on her was swerll city!!!?? You could'nt tell from a few feet away but up close it was pretty bad. After the disapointment and dibelief ended the cussin began, so what I did was take out my trusty tube of Scratch X, and went to work. After the Scratch X I applyed two coats of Turtle Wax T-123, with a cotton cloth wetted with water, just as John Hall recommended. Well the finish is TOTALLY differnt now, I got 95% of the swerll marks out and she looks amazing!! About 1 1/2 hrs work.
And the sound is great, totally differnt from my 360 FG, I knew it would be differnt but I had no idea that they would sound so differnt. The new 620 has a real good "bite" to it, while my 360 sounds cleaner and boomier, same amp, all the setting set the same on both guitars, it must be due to the smaller solid body on the 620 VS the larger hollow body on the 360. Anyway I could'nt be happier with it, however that guitar should never have left the factory with all those swerlls on the finish, thank God for Scratch X.

I think you'll find that those swirl marks will reappear, especially if you let it get cold again. It's the oil in the case fabric, congealing on the surface of the guitar as it cools off. Stick with the Turtle Wax a few more times and as the oil diminishes, the problem will go away.

Any marks left by factory buffing will be in a straight line as the last five steps of the six buffing stages use large arbor mounted wheels, not any kind of rotary pad that could swirl.
