I’ve been into Kustom tuck and rolls lately.
Look at my new head.
Are these the same as Ric bass knobs???

Exactly the same, sans any script on the tops.

There are actually three variations to these knobs, and three sizes that I'm aware of. One variation is available at any Radio Shack store!
Same with the RIC vintage knobs--two variations, though, but, again, three sizes, available at Radio Shack.
The variations I've seen are: RIC, with the letters, the ones you see, with an index line, and one with an index dot.
They are open stock knobs from a knob manufacturer. Rick sands off the bottoms--maybe to obliterate the manufacturer's name? I'm not sure.
Oven knobs is oven knobs, however. Only one type I've seen available recently, brown and gold. They used to make them in black and ivory, too, I understand, also with the gold trim plate.

Hey Dave! My first amp was the very same only it had the silver sparkle. I think it was made in '72 or so. I bought it around 1980 with a matching 2X15 speaker. I was never much of a fan of the head. Eventually it blew out and then I gave it to a friend...who destroyed it. I kept the speaker until about 4 years ago when I sold it to Music-go-Round for 80 bucks! And while I had it...I did also notice the knob similarity with my Ricky 4001.
I still love those goofy tuck and roll 2X15's. Someday I'd like to get a pair of 'em.

It was my first amp too Jeff. I found the head just like the one I use to have (my Dad purchased one for me when I was 12). Now I need a 3 x 12" cabinet.

This has been pointed out before.
Minimoogs are yet another instrument that feature these, er...Rickenbacker (?) knobs.

My '77 has the non-script and I always thought they looked wrong. Did Ric always use the script type for non-vintage aplications?

I have a dull recollection that they were made by Raytheon - perhaps not always, the way companies and product lines get sold.
