Bit of fun for those who like this sort of stuff (I Do) three versions of same song, one is from 1966 one from 1975 and one from 2004.

One version made number one in UK and also made number 44 when it was re-issued years later.

All UK acts who made their name in the sixties and in one case still are a big name.

who is performing each version, year and which version was the number one.

Oops... it's not an artist from the UK... sorry.
Love the song, if i'm not mistaken, the Rolling Stones did it, but (choking) no idea who do these ones... 8-(

It is them, yes, not much appropriate for this section i know, but i just love it sooo much...
The Stones did it first, right? A Jagger/Richards composition... Del Shannon also did it according to AMG but i'm not sure he's in your list...

2/3 Brian, number 3 is wrong. Years hit to get yet but I am assuming you know that.

Version 3 is hard to be fair but the artist was discussed very recently.

Actually forget the years because I misled you, on Version 2 whilst the track was taken from a 75 album, the version had been released in 66 in the Uk by The Stones of course on the album Aftermath though it did not appear on the version issued in US.

So just the awful version 3 to get, act did have a number one in UK in sixties and notched up 8 hits between July 63 and July 65.

Roy: I am going to go with P. J. Proby's version for number 3. I am not completely sure but I would put the year at 1966.

I am fairly certain that Chris Farlowes version was released in 1966 as my band used to do that number.

Not sure about the Stones release. I can't even guess on the last version. I would be surprised if it is PJ Proby. He had a very strong voice as I recall.
