Is this really a 1968 4001?
Is the position of the neck pickup correct?
The inlays seem to be made of genuine crushed MOP material(or is it the lighting in the photo?).
Check It Out Here

Far from it!!! It is more like a '78 than anything from the 1960's. A '68 would have all the vintage features like a V63 or C64 would, but with, binding, long headstock and logo plate, trangle inlays that are edge to edge on the fingerboard, horseshoe magnet pickup, toaster neck pickup (closer to the neck), vintage pickguard (with a thumb rest?), and checker binding. The seller is a liar or misinformed. That is my opinion..

....And, who in there right mind, would put a badass bridge on a '68. It does not have the vintage knobs either. Those would not have a metal top insert. Buyer beware...

I e-mailed that guy and told him it was NOT a '68 ... I have a '68 .... My '68 has a different headstock, different inlays, Checkered binding, different pickguard, different bridge, different pickups, ...
Looks like a '78 to me ... not worth what he is asking with that bridge ...
Hey I was told buy a luthier that my '68 was a '62 .... then I checked out the serial number

Did I miss something?
Since when does adding a Badass bridge to a Rickenbacker of any year "up the any (ante?)" on that bass?
Maybe if you're going for the old '70's Geddy Lee look and sound, but I still doubt that "ups the ante".

That's no '68 4001 for sure. My, some sellers simply won't change...

Uh, What "Blue Book" is this used car salesman referring to when he says it is blue book valued at $1425? Is that maybe Austrialian dollars?

I think he got the message ... he closed the auction early ....
I had a ric with a badass bridge ... It was ugly and it didn't sound as good as a Ric bridge ... so I sold the darn thing ...
A real '68 would be worth at least $2000 and if it was in good shape it would be worth $3000 or more ...
I love my '68 ... If you get a chance to pick one up do it .... they are a joy to play and look great ... Walnut headwings, checkered binding ... beautiful

Well, my '70 21-fret 4001 must be the next best thing.
