Check out Rock N Roll - a great album ! Whiskeytown, his first band, was good also, but a lot more country.

Looks cool holding the guitar. Take the guitar away, who'd look?

Well, I have heard a lot of his stuff. Adams started out in a punk band before going country-rock (country-punk?) with 'Whiskeytown'. He is a prolific song-writer who has been acclaimed by other artists such as Lucinda Williams and Elton John.

History will prove whether or not he leaves a longtime legacy or, in the words of one of his songs, "Burns out bright".

If you want a good sampler of his stuff, get the "Gold" CD. Very good range of music styles and interesting lyrics.

For the record, my favorite songwriters are Lucinda Williams and Bruce Cockburn. I don't know why Cockburn doesn't get more recognition in the US of A, but his 30+ albums are full of brilliant lyrics and excellent musicianship. Maybe we should send him a Rickenbacker....

He's only one letter away from being Bryan Adams.

Apparently he HATES it when that's pointed out to him...

Right, and when teenage store clerks ask me who I'm looking for, they inevitably pull out Bryan Adams CDs after I tell them that I'm looking for Ryan Adams. When I stress that I want RYAN Adams, I get that bored teen look in reply. Mind you, this happens in Malaysia, where they don't know American/Canadian artists very well other than the big name groups.

I'd like to point out that he's wearing the "official" hat! Image

One thing I miss most about the US of A: Austin City Limits. I do miss that wonderful showcase of great music. It was from an ACL show (Gurf Morlix backing Lucinda Williams) that I first decided that I wanted to try a Rickenbacker. Sigh....

The show is only getting better, James.
