I have to say both look fabulous.
That checkered binding, oooohhh.
Is there ever a "Shadow" with bound fingerboard and triangle inlays?
Or is this the only version?

Just received reply from the seller:
" HELLO,,,, thanks for the interest,,,this bass was made this way from ric ,, it was not a custom job it was just limited edition put out ,,,, i was told that only 20- 30 were made,,,,"
$1500 buy it now is not a bad price.
G.A.S. strikes again man.
Jeff you should bid on it.
Good luck.

The 4003 Shadow came with checkerboard binding, black dot inlays and black hardware. Here's an example:

I always wanted a 4001/4003 mapleglo with black trim and black triangular inlays .... I don't think Ric has ever done black triangular inlays ... but I never thought they did black dots either ... until I saw this model

My '86 4003 is all black with black binding and a black horseshoe pickup. I'd post a pic here if I knew how to do it.

I'm talking about a wood colored fret board with black inlays instead of the usual perloid ... I saw it on a bolt on neck copy once but never on a real ric ...
