Back to work again, finally.

Man, I was starting to believe I would never find another job. After being terminated from my previous employer for shooting my big mouth off once to often, I finally found another job after four and a half months. I work in the IT field and senior level jobs are few and far between here in central Pa. I was able to hook up with EDS for a Sun MicroSystems account.
The old grind starts again on the 12th. Thank god, with the weather turning cold I was beginning to go steer crazy. Thanks to the forum for keeping me preoccupied for the last few months.
Now I may be able to go on a Ric buying binge, after being deprived for so long.

There is one important lesson I have learned from this. I am getting too old to maintain my rebellious disposition, and sometimes it doesn't pay to try and fight the man. Image

Congrats Bob,

As you obviously found out much to your chagrin, in our modern culture many do not want to hear opposing or frank views. Especially if those views are based on experience and they come from within the company.

They sure are quick on the draw to start the witch hunt though when their turf turns to sh*t.

Congrats on the job and welcome to EDS. I've been with EDS for 5 years. It's a job and it allows me to keep my Ric collection alive and growing.

Unbelievable as it might seem, it wasn't my big mouth that got me fired...it was my big urine sample.

I'm determined I will not submit to that kind of personal invasion to gain 'employment' again...let's see, that leaves dishwasher and garbageman...

Oh well, like Lee Greenwood said: "...at least I know I'm free..."

Congratulations Bob!
(i was without a "regular" job for about half a year some years ago... yeah, because of my big mouth 8-) cannot say i can keep it shut for most of the time now, however...8-)
And good luck of course!

I know that 'phew!!!' feeling, Bob. Even though it was over 12 years ago, 7 months of unemployment with few prospects was a rotten experience.

I have similar problems with my employer - can't handle constructive criticism, except at the Christmas party, when everybody gets tanked up and gives him hell!!

Hope it goes well for you.

Good news Bob.

I learned a long time ago,"you got to pick your battles". The motto also works in marriages.

"it was my big urine sample."

Did you leave it in the middle of the floor again? ;-0

DPT....

A quote from my natural English vernacular sums that up perfectly....

Your employer was, as we say, "Taking the ****..."

My first boss told me I would be self employed or unemployed...and true to his word I have been both...

Wints,

My headmaster once told me in a fit of rage (I was a bit of a rebel and he did not like my Beatle cut as it was just not suitable for our school) that I was going to amount to nothing in my life, just like the Rolling Stones. Boy was he wrong on both accounts. LOL

huh... my teacher in primary school said "this girl will never learn to read and to write".
(to some extent, she was right, since my handwriting is really horrible 8-)
...oh "sweet innocent" times when a "girl" wasn't allowed to play football, fight, and keep company with boys 8-)

It did take around 15 years for his words to come to fruition, but having been "self" for the last decade, he was, indeed, correct...
