John,
I look forward to reading your keen insight on this subject. My first Rickenbackers were both purchased in 1965. Back then Rickenbacker was a manufacturer of very fine instruments and they continue that legacy today.

As you all know there is a LOT of ground we can cover in this topic, and I will do my best to provide some insight into what people are interested in about vintage Rickenbackers. I will, as I always have, look forward to learning from all of you. So many Rickenbackers, so little time...LOL

Welcome John. My first Ric was a new '78 4001JG, so just inside your catchment, but unfortunately I don't have it anymore. I'd like another one though, just for old times sake.

Welcome, John! I need a lil' help in ID'ing a particular Rick that my brother owns. He knows nothing about model numbers or the like. Only that it's "Beatly" looking. He got it brand new in 1978, short-scale John Lennon type, triple pickup, two-tier pickguard, "R" tailpiece, no vibrato bar. Solid body. Guitar is black in color. Real nice/real clean. What's the skinny on this guitar? Thanks, Skip.

Skip, from your description it sounds like your brother has a model 320, which is a hollow-body, it's just that the top is solid. A 320 is a non-vibrato version of the 325, which is the Rick that John Lennon played. Best thing to do would be to post a pic if you have one...thanks.
