Hi Fellas,
It finally came! I haven't played it yet.I felt I should let it adjust to the climate in the house since it's been freezing in the back of a UPS truck up here in Vermont. What are wonderful color the Midnight Blue is.I think I'll name it the "Smurf Bass".

May "Smurf" kick-start a wonderful new year and a jolly musical trip for you.
Here's some little interesting reading for you.

Rickenbackers, IMHO, should always have a female's name. Smurette!!!

Most of us Rickenusers take off the bridge pickup cover and lower the action ... A screw driver and an allen wrench will do the trick ...

Robert:"Rickenbackers, IMHO, should always have a female's name. Smurette!!! "
Absolutely, Robert. "Smurette" sounds very good, esprcially when you pronounce it in French.
I give my basses female names and that makes me play them babies more.
Now excuse me, my Annie and Amber are waiting for me.

Jeff,i am a little confused. why would you have to take the bridge pick up cover to lower the action?

Christopher,
I think Jeff wanted to say:
1.Take off the cover to allow playing with a pick.
2.Lower the action to make it "play like creme", as long
as fret buzz is within the acceptable degree.
Is that correct, Jeff?

Of course, a good percentage of us actually like the bridge pickup cover!

My bridge p/u cover stays on!!!
For me, that's a major part of the "look" of these fine instruments!

I agree with Tim that the pickup cover contributes a great deal to the aesthetics of a ric 4001/4003.
Too bad I had to take mine off because I play with a pick and mute unplayed strings with my palm near the bridge.
