Does anyone know the 4004 Laredo? I don“t like the Cheyenne models that much, but think this one looks great.

What is the body wood of the 4004L? The RIC site says that it is simply "hardwood". Does anyone know?

I believe JH said somewhere that they used "hardwood" to give themselves flexibility in the woods [maple or walnut] they use but it almost always turns out to be maple.
Correct me if I'm wrong, good people......

I agree.....I think it was determined that "hardwood" was used for simplicity. The Cii with the walnut sandwiched body was given as an example. I am reasonably sure the Laredos are maple....but since mine is JG I can't be sure.

Found it....this is JH from the RIC forum....
"We said "hardwood" only because we reserved the right in the past to shoot a Walnut Cheyenne with a color if the wood grain didn't look right, making it a Laredo. As it turned out, we never did it and they've all been Maple."

Cool. I figured it was something simple. Thanks.

Thanks....I'm just waiting for Dale to get back to me to finalize the details on getting the neck refinished in black. Then my 4004 Laredo/pseudo-Blackstar will be complete......bwahahahahahaha!!!!

Is the fingerboard unfinished on that bass?

And then there's the classic Fireglo. This one is a '97 with the maple fingerboard (now bubinga). I had Jeff Rath do his vol/vol/tone mod, and I currently have a low B strung BEAD. Brian is wanting to buy this from me, but I dunno. He'll paint it black and it's just to pretty for that.

my Laredo is all maple and so is Paul's ... the 4004L is colder sounding the the 4004C ... the walnut has a warmer sound ... and I highly recommend the vvt mod ... and as far as low B response ... the 4004 is good, the 4003 is better and the 2030 and 2020 are the best ...
