I probably asking an old question here, but here goes. Why did they move the neck pick up closer to the fret board again?

To make it easier to remove the truss rods if neccesary.

Jeff's needed a rod removed and RIC had to cut (rather expertly) a small channel in the body at the end of each truss channel. They went back to letting the pickup route provide the rod access.

Um, that Blueburst at the top . . . words cannot express how infinitely gorgeous it is. If we were neo-Platonists, this bass would be the ideal, Platonic bass by which all basses are compared. Wow. Blueburst really is made for 4004 basses . . .

I'd prefer it with chrome. I'm just not a fan of the gold hardware.

The color doeslook great though!
