Hey guys, does anyone have the correct chords for the this song?
The bit Im after in particular is that cool sounding twangy rhythm guitar in the intro, Ive looked up a few on google but they dont seem to sound quite right. (playing an Em shape on the 3rd fret) it sounds to me it could be played higher up the neck, and maybe de tuned? Has anyone nailed this song correctly?

The band I'm in covers it on occasion, with the trombone playing the melody...I'm on bass, so I don't know the answer to your question...I'll have to listen to it again, or maybe someone here knows already...

Anyway, there are other ways to nail a tune than 'correctly'...IMHO, that is...

I like Ringo's voice the best. You can hear him plumbing his adenoids...

Good point...the baritone 'La-la-la's in the last 'verse' are the most essential ingredient to 'nailing' this one...

I agree with your earlier observation Dane. Sometimes you can nail a song by doing a completely different version. I generally like to do my own version of other peoples songs because then I can just be myself.

I always thought the "La's" came from the Mellotron? Not sure exactly where I got that idea though.

John...just guessing here...there is mellotron all over that track, but mellotron vocals don't have consonants at the beginning of the loops, like the 'L' in 'La'...just an 'Aaaahhh' sound. And I'm thinking with some male voices already booked for the session (especially ones who like clowning around), it would be easier to have the boys go for it. I could be wrong, though...now I have to get the track out and listen to it under the microscope...

The Mellotron in question bears a striking resemblance to Yassar Arafat...

Some of the la's have a quality very similar to Paul's voice when he goes into his lounge singer act for "Besame Mucho" in the "Let it Be" movie. And John was adept at the beer hall voice, too. I reckon they just tracked it live.

Don't forget also that varispeed was pervasive during this period, so it probably was just them singing - varispeeded.

I've always heard a prominent Ringo in that song. It is one of my favorites, and it has a nice groove for bass. I love playing along with Flying.

There's also the nifty "Aerial Tour Instrumental" version with the calliope or whatever they stuck on there. I think I have that mix around here somewhere...
