MIDWEST CONFLUENCE SET! MILWAUKEE 21-23 APRIL!

OK, guys and gals, we are set. It turned out the best combination of location, accommodation, and price was in Milwaukee. We'll be at the Four Points Sheraton, 4747 South Howell Ave., Milwaukee, across the street from Milwaukee's General Mitchell Intnl. Airport. For those flying in and staying at the hotel, there's a 24-hr. free shuttle.

The dates are Friday April 21, through Sunday April 23 (that's the weekend after Easter, by the way). The room ("Director's 6") is 48'x24' (just a hair under 1,200 square feet) and will cost just $250 total for the three days! I'll probably ask for contributions at the door from attendees to cover expenses. We'll be getting a special group rate of $89 on overnight rooms. I'll be getting back to you all for any special group code you'll need to book rooms.

For airline travelers, Milwaukee is best served by Midwest Airlines (formerly Midwest Express) and Northwest. There's also limited service by Delta, United, and American. Milwaukee's airport is a breeze compared with Chicago's O'Hare.

Driving is easy. Go to Chicago and turn North!

More later, but I'd like to hear from those who plan to attend. If you do attend, please bring your own guitar stands. We should have a few small amps (I can bring one bass amp), but let's not bring Marshall stacks. Quiet playing is permissible, as usual.

OK, let's hear it! Who's coming?

I don't have much interesting to bring except my primerglo '77 beater, but I would love to come look over others lovelies. As for coming from Minneapolis, I can drive if there's other Minnesotans in the house.

Will be there. Midwest Airlines is not bad. About $225 RT non-stop. I guess I'll come in Friday afternoon and leave Sunday night.

I'm in. arriving around 6:50 on Friday and leaving around 3:30 on Sunday...

I think I'll bring my v63 and my sea green project. Not sure if I can bring guitar stands, but I'll try.

Great, Marc. If you've not flown Midwest before, you're in for a treat. Usually MD-90s with four across leather seats. If meals are available, you'll want to get one. Gourmet cuisine and fresh-baked-onboard toll-house cookies. The non-stop service usually means no lost luggage! ;^)

They said the plane was a 717 but, it looks as you described.

I'll try and keep an eye on my basses as well this time...Might even ship'em ahead...

Gee, and I'm the airplane nut. Yeah, 717 is correct. It's the "new" Boeing name for the MD-92. Now the ultimate aircraft trivia question: This 717 is a newly acquired design when Boeing took over McDonnell Douglas. What aircraft had the original "717" designator given to it at the factory in the late 1950s?

Marc.....if you don't want them on the flight you can ship them to me and I'll drive them up for you and send them back to you when I get home. It may not be an option you want to take but I'm just putting the offer out there for ya'.

Thanks Brian,

Jeff Scott always offers to let me ship the instruments to him, then return them as he sees fit. Your offer sounds better as I at least have a shot at getting my basses back.

On a serious note, the only thing that makes me not want to ship is it gives the Fedex people the opportunity to stomp on the basses. For some reason I trust the baggage handlers more as I can at least see them handling the basses(although it didn't work out too good last time)
