How's this idea? Rickenbacker casket

My drummer saw one of my vintage Ric cases at last practice and quipped how much it resembled a casket. That gave me the idea - I wonder if I could have one made to look like a Ric vintage case? Do you think John Hall would sell me enough Tolex to do the job? It sure would cool at the viewing.

What color fur will you use on the inside? That crushed purple/blue stuff would look pretty nice...

I got a similar comment when one of our "hangers-on" saw the inside of the vintage case my C64S came in:

"You gonna be buried in that case, or what?"

Mebbe... just mebbe!Image

I am imagining how that call would go down. Um, yeah, I want to build a casket that looks like a guitar case.......

It plays a bit like a Crank Yankers call.

I think to use a vintage case you must have been born prior to 1970. 1970 and up, sorry, you get the plastic case.

4001's count as vintage don't they? Can't we move the cutoff date to the early '80s? Otherwise I just miss...

What if someone claimed to be a vintage reissue?

You might be closer to the mark than you think. The largest user of conversion varnish finishes in the U.S. are casket makers.

That's reassuring to know, John. Now, can you spare a bit of the exterior material used on the vintage silver cases? Oh yeah,I'll need some of the blush plush lining, too.

I'm changing my will. I'll do a viewing in a casket made to look like a silver vintage case with my Rics lined up around me. Then I 'll be buried with ALL of them. After all, I'll need something to play in the afterlife Image.

Sounds better than cremation to me.

Don't knock cremation if you haven't tried it...
