Strap Locks for '81 320

The strap buttons on my '81 320JG are the old style machine threaded bolts. So my Schaller strap locks will not work with them. The wood screws on the Schallers are too small for the hole. Should I fill the holes with toothpicks and carpenters glue, drill a pilot hole and then insert the wood screw Schaller buttons? Or is there a better way?

The new RIC straplock buttons will screw right in. Get them from RIC or Mike Parks.

Thanks Jeff. I saw that in the boutique after John Hall pointed it out to me... hehe... right next to the regular button... I didn't even look there!

I actually drilled the strap buttons on the 320 with a titanium drill bit the same diameter as the lock pin on the Schaller locks. I drilled to about 1/8" depth and it doesn't work too bad! It is a little sloppy in that it moves side to side as well as swivels, but it will hold until I can get the buttons from Rickenbacker!

Douglas, if you have any problem getting the factory straplock bolts, let me know - I have a home-made alternative that works fine.

Thanks Gary. Shouldn't be any problem. I've ordered parts from the Ricky boutique before and they are very good and the strap locks are in stock.
