You and those stripes... Image

Question: when you pull the slugs from a Hi-Gain, do you have to "unscrew" them, or do they pull straight out?

Nice! I like it! Wondering why you used a P bass neck though...

Nate, the Jazz bass neck is not wide enough to fit the 5th string on. He is fitting 5 strings into a 4-string space.
And it is strange about the stripes, Jeff is not even a Van Halen fan! Image

The stripes are a tribute to a Who laser show ... or they are a tribute to Van Halen ... well really it is because the solid black is boring and I needed to hide the screw holes in the body ... I prefer p-bass necks to jazz necks ... jazz necks are too slim for 4 and 5 strings ... the p-bass neck fits my hands just right ... there are no high gain pickups on this bass ... they are jazz pickups ... one is a 2 jazz pickups in series and one is a seymour duncan 1/4 pond jazz bridge pickup ... this bass has low end that goes on for ever and a good treble bite ... and it growls!!! I am really liking this bass ... Nate this is the jazz body you were going to buy from me ... I told you I had a project in mind ...

I did not know that about the Jazz necks. I was wondering what you had in mind for that body, and you were right, I do like it!

Hey Jeff good to see your still at it man.. I thought I would mention after looing at your conversion I just bought one of the Fender Aerodyne basses. It was cheap (because it is not an american made bass) and it is the narrowest 4 string neck I have ever played. Looks a little like a Ric. with the binding. And the tailpiece/bridge makes this easy to play. Love the looks and the feel of this one. IT is light and sounds just great! It is fun to jump back on a 4 string every once in a while.

Keep makin those great basses Jeff.
