Pod 2.0 and/or XT?

Anyone here have experience with either of these units for recording guitars? I want a good sound into my computer, but this is just a hobby, and I'd rather do it on the cheap. The amp models seem cool, and I wouldn't mind dabbling with the effects (although I'm not a big pedal guy). I had an old Zoom unit that was pretty cheesy, basically just a toy. How do the Pods compare, and what do you get that is really useful for the extra $$$ for the XT? Thanks for any info.
