do they sound that noticeably different?

if john had used the 350 for the 325 parts in the recordings would anyone have noticed?

I have a 325v63 and I've owned a 325c58. I've also owned several "regular" scale Rics (360v64, 620, 1997). To me the tonal difference is there, and it's primarily a function of the string gauge. I play 11s on my 360v64. 11s won't work on the 325s. The 325s require 12s or 13s to intonate properly. With the thicker strings you get a heavier, woodier sort of tone, even on a regular scale guitar. Add to that the shorter scale, the typically less cleanly fretted chords, and you get a "chunk" that you can't quite get with the longer scale guitars using typical string gauges. That "chunk" is just the sound that makes my 325 a perfect little rhythm guitar.... It seems to cut through the mix a little better than my other bigger Rics, and I prefer to use it when I know we are doing a set of mainly upbeat contemporary praise songs....

wow, 13? im not sure if can handle 13s on my 350v63. i am thinking about getting pyramid gold flats in 11s though.
