I am looking at getting a small combo for home use,and was looking at the crate bt range.Anyone out there own one or have an opinion on these amps.

I have never really liked the Crate stuff. I have a Hartke Kickback 10 for a practice amp. It's 120 watts, so I have used it as a backup in a pinch! They also make it with a 12.

Thanks i am looking for a small but powerfull combo that will compliment my 4003.

A lot of people here like and use the small 100 watt SS Ampeg combos, they have a great sound for a SS amp and they're pretty cheap.

Ampeg B100R is popular around here.

My practice amp is a crate BT 25 . Its a killer sounding amp ! Single ten inch . also a built in tuner on the top wich is handy for learning cover tunes . Made by the same company as ampeg too

I LOVE my B100R. Highly recommended. Save your pennies & upgrade from the Crate. You'll probably get a B100R for a steal here pretty soon. In March they're introducing the B200R with a tube preamp, XLR out, & a tweeter.

Crate is a good medium quality amp that will get the job done ...

Hey Shawn, don't know how you feel about the SWR sound, but I notice that Musician's Friend has "limited quantities" of the SWR Workingman's series combos marked way down right now. WM 12 (120W 12") for $300, WM 15 (160W 15") for $350. XLR out, effects loop, switchable tweeter, etc.

I actively gig with my BA115. It has PLENTY of volume for any venue we've played so far. Haven't gotten above "4" on the volume setting. And it has an XLR out so I can run it to the board if needed. So far, haven't needed to.

For low priced with a cool suboctave, Crate's it. I find their EQ lacking, however. But for less than $200, they are good practice amps. For higher end mid-priced I prefer Genz-Benz, roughly $400 street for a 2x12 w/250 watts.

Thats one BIG stack.I don't play live much now due to work and family life.I have owned many amps both british and american and my favorite was the peavey TNT 160.This amp never let me down only problem same size and weight as a washing machine.So it has to be an american made amp so i will check out the ampeg BA range,small but powerfull.Thanks once again for all the help and advice.
