Last night's show (1/26) the last goodbye

last night became the last time that my band got to "rock out like motorhead". we were asked to play a 4 song acoustic motorhead set at a local club with 5 other acts. we broke up last april but my former guitarist, who is my best friend, accepted the invite and we had a drummer play with us who never once rehearsed with us. the first 4 acts were rather low key acoustic grooves who were all good in their own right and the crowd enjoyed them all...sitting down. when it was our turn i walked from the back of the club with my 79 4001 strapped around me neck and people started making noise. i jumped up on the stage, told the soundman through the mic to remove the barstool because i wouldn't be sitting down tonight. the people started cheering. it was pretty cool. right before we started the first song, i said "why are you people sitting down? this is a rock show now." everyone stood up and crowded the front of the stage and we broke into our short set:

going to brazil
orgasmatron
chase is better than the catch
ace of spades

they loved it. we loved it. the soundman kicked our volume up (he had run sound for us when we were a full on tribute). by the time ace of spades started, the crowd was having a blast. during ace of spades just about everyone in the club sang along and the drummer did a little washboard solo during the breakdown part of "i was born to lose, and gambling's for fools" part. i wasn't sure how it would sound but he hit it with perfect timing and went back into the little 2 pc kit perfectly.

the owners' band played a johnny cash set after we were finished and the crowd had gone back to mostly sitting down, but not me. i was right up front raising hell. they told me afterwards that they didn't even want to go on after what they saw. it was a great compliment and the show was a perfect goodbye for the tribute band as there were a ton of friends there. our actual "final show" back in April was a bit sparce because of the location of the venue, this made it all worth it.

thanks for reading.

That's cool Sean... every (well, most) band(s) deserve a sendoff like that!

So what's your current project?
