CASE ODDITY

The Ric case for my 660/12 came with a different guitar's profile molded into the top half. Though it has Ric like horns, it doesn't fit my 1997. WTF?

It's also molded to fit the 330 style body. This discussion is proceeding on the RIC forum right now as well.
Presumably this keeps several types of guitars secure & costs less than producing proprietary cases for each model.
Beautiful guitar, BTW

Wouldn't the 330 be the same size as a 1997? The 1997 most definitely will not fit, it's bigger than the cut out.

Jerry, what yr. is your 1997?

It's a 1987 1997 (I love saying that) bought from an illustrious forumite. I use it regularly on stage.

Jerry, I don't believe I have ever been called an "illustrious forumite" before. Thanks, I think.
I believe the RIC/SKB 660 case was designed to also hold the 200 series guitars.

Very nice! I saw the square heel and I thought that it may have been an early '64 model. Does anyone know if all reissue 1997s came with square heels? I've had a couple but can't remember.

John, All three of the 1997 reissues I have owned, from 1987, 1998, and 2000 had square heels.

Yes, it's looks very much like a 200 series outline now that you mention it.
Oh, the 660/12 is turquoise, though it appears blueish in the above picture.
The 1997 Kevin sold to me is a wonderful guitar, cranks loud and live!
Does anyone else have a schizoid case? I'd have thought the top would match the bottom. Not that I mind, it's a non-issue.

Viewed straight on it is more rectangular. The horns also look more pointy in the angled pic.

Of course in years to come, collectors will offer me outrageous sums for this case. Much like when stamps are printed upside down or coins minted with two heads. It will be talked about in the most exclusive collecting circles.
Maybe not.

Schizoid collectors might.
I know a few, and each of them seems to be a special case, too.
So you never know.

A Bowie fan would find the title of this thread amusing. Good one, Jerry!

Might a 350V63 fit
I know they are supplied with silver cases, but it's a similar size to the 660 case...

Body wise, I'd guess it's too long, tip o' the horn to tailpiece. The cutout is as long as my 1997 which I'm assuming is 330 size. Just narrower.

I was into early Bowie.
